Franks Slide, Alberta

August 2nd of our trip to Saskatchewan: It rained last nite, was noisy and the micro wave started peeping again. We set off about 9:30 up the Crowsnest Pass Highway. We stop to see the Lundbreck Falls. There are many tents along the river and people fishing. They must have got a bit wet last night. Its a lovely spot. We stop at the Interpretive Center at Franks Slide I have quite a lot of photos of this spot, as I probably won't be back again for a long time, if ever. I bought the book about it and have yet to read it. Also got a new teddy bear. We carry on throught the spectacular scenery and stop for lunch at Fernie.

At home: yesterday I made a salmon dinner for the 6 of us. Some of us spent half the day watching the football game. Was a good day. Today: everyone disappeared before I was up and so we had the day to ourselves. Was another good day. It rained yesterday. I have purple plums in the house, but they are not quite ready to eat just yet.

Pincher Creek, Alberta

Aug 1st - we are on our way from Swift Current Saskatchewan to Pincher Creek, Alberta. After our lunch stop at Medicine Hat we next stop at Taber for more groceries. We drove through Lethbridge and Fort McCloud with no stops as we are heading home. We are in the foothills of the Rockies now. There are quite a few windmills, but not many of my photos turned out this afternoon. We get to Pincher Creek and find the Sleepy Hollow campsite by about 5:30. We are beside the creek in a well treed campsite. We get parked and its a bull's eye level ! We have pasta, basa fish, salad and white wine. Walk after the supper dishes and back to the camper for our chunky monkey ice cream desert. We could not find Cherry Garcia ice cream. It was 36 degrees out today, but we have air conditioning. We are comfortably snugged in by 8:30.

At home: I have managed to get the house plants watered and watered a bit at the back, as well as top up the pond. I uploaded my videos of the Greek dancing to you tube and have one at the bottom of the page today. Dan and Carol should arrive in an hour or so, as they were catching the 9:00 ferry they said. It rained a bit last night and the trees are just starting to turn colors.

Alberta bound

Alkaline deposits in an S curve. Wouldn't this be a terrific sunset spot? Too bad we had no time to stop.
The Saamis Teepee is a roadside attraction located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It is the largest teepee in the world standing giant 215 Feet (65.5 Metres) and was originally built for the 1988 Winter Olympics that were held in Calgary Alberta as a symbol of Canada's native heritage.
These deer were along the roadside, as we turned into the Medicine Hat, Alberta, information center, where we stopped for lunch.
This structure was across the road from the Maple Creek Junction where we stopped for gas.
Golden fields at the end of July. I am not sure what the crop is.

The cows in the sage. I like the slant of the railroad track. I believe the coes are perpendicular.

Rolling hills of Southwestern Sask and southeastern Alta. is primarily ranching country and oil industry.

more alkalai. I liked the bales in the distant field.
An abstract with the colors saturated somewhat. The curves of the hills and the straight line of the railroad tracks for more contrasts.
An oil well.

August 1st - Swift Current to Pincher Creek, Alberta. This was another good travel day. The showers at the campsite last night were coin-op but very good showers. We stopped at Maple Creek Junction to get fuel. Next stop was Medicine Hat information center for lunch. Eggs, ham and cheese in a bun.
