January - snow

We have snow!!!  Of course we all freeze in place for a day! But by the next morning the radio broadcasts are telling us that all the schools, and everything else, is business as usual.  All the photographers go crazy with trying to get the best exposure for the snow while it lasts.  I have a bizillion photos of birds and kids.  :))  I love the contrasts of the colors against the black and white.
By tomorrow, the snow will be gone.  It is raining and sure to wash it all away in a day.

It is pouring rain here; glad you got a good snow. The pics turned out well. Migrating birds are coming back here; I saw a lone robin and a pair of towhees this week. Too early.

I wonder what the birds know that we don't know?

We have rufous sided towhees, as you know from the picture, of course, robins, humming birds, juncos, 2 or 3 kinds of sparrows, starlings, and I am sure there are others that I did not see .. woodpeckers, titmouses, the water birds, hawks, etc. The patchy colored big robin I mentioned last winter is dominating the smaller regular sized robins again this year.
