Northern Saskatchewan

July 30 was a cold, grey day. The four of us set off to tour a few of the northern towns and countryside. After visiting the old church at Perigord, we continued on to Greenwater lake where we had lunch. The lake was very drab looking under the grey clouds and did not afford any photo opportunities. The next photo stop was at Hudson's Bay. The church is another old one, St. Patricks Anglican, the Desroches Hotel, the elevator, and the Printers building all appear to be good old heritage buildings. I hope they keep them. The moose sculpture is the closest I got to anything resembling a moose on the whole trip.

Today at home was just another lazy day. I downloaded an old version of Firefox and am getting along far better with it than I was with the newest one. Chrome is faster and I think I will keep it for my default browser.

July 26 - Kelliher - Leross
While the guys had coffee I wandered around The Junction in the perfect morning light and found so many wonderful Prairie Tunes to record.

Lebret, Jumping Deer Creek

July 23 has been a very busy day and walk down memory lane. After the Fort, we go to Lebret and visit the cemetery where some of Pat's relatives are buried. I have a few photos of gravestones if any family members are interested. After this visit we carry on to Dysart with a stop at the old road that crossed Jumping Deer Creek.

At home: On Wednesday, we went out to the Fernwood Inn for dinner and then over to see Wingfield at the Belfrey. Was a fine night out! On Thursday, we went to Victoria Orange Hall in Fernwood to see Buckaroo. This is a one man play, also. Its about a cattle drive from Oregon to the gold rush fields at Chilcotin. This ties in with my recent reading on this era of B.C. history. The play was very well done.

In the garden on Thursday I managed to get the grass mowed, dead headed more perennials, and topped up the pond. The pump was stuffed up and so I had to clean its filter. In dragging the pump to the surface, the big filter fell off. I cannot reach it at the bottom of the pond. I will have to wade into the pond to get it, which I was just not prepared to do today. So, the small filter will have to do for now. I will rescue the big one, next week, maybe. The yellow plums are very ripe and falling off the tree. I really must freeze some of them. I was delighted to see the blue plums on the tree today. Even though there are lots of them on the ground, there are quite a few on the tree yet!! They are not ripe, yet. Would be great if they ripened when our guests are here in September.

I have been spending quite a bit of time playing on the new site... testing things and reporting any bugs, I find.

At Saskatoon

July 21

We arrived at Gerry and Bev's home late afternoon. The GPS was helpful in finding our way. There was quite a lot of traffic as I believe we were in the rush hour traffic. Was good to see them. We spent some time visiting and went out for Chinese food.. seems to be an old tradition of ours with them. :-) After dinner Gerry drove us around to see the town. The river front is developed into a fine park. We saw the old places where we all lived.. still standing and finished off with a gorgeous sunset.

At home today we have had another lovely day. I should have been out but played on my computer, uninstalled and re-installed Chrome browser, played a lot on the new site. They have got so much done on it, now! And as Cyrus says... so much to do yet.

Yesterday we went to a picnic with the VCCC group to some new members' lovely garden. Was a nice drive, with Botins to accompany us. Lovely home and gorgeous gardens, but I just did not feel like taking pictures.
