Flare with CS Filter

I was playing with my CS filter to get this and a few other shots. The light source is the sun shining through the dining room window. I tweaked it a bit in Photoshop -- not sure if its an improvement or not, but it was fun playing with the burn tool, the paint bucket and a few other adjustments. The flares are real and untouched.

We had snow today... lightly. I saw the hummingbird and there were robins and other birds coming to drink on the water table and the bird bath.

We are having record breaking high temperatures this week. My thermometer is at 36 Celcius.

The neighbors moving truck is parked almost all the way across the front of our driveway with sun glinting off its white cab. So, I thought I would attach my CS filter and try to get some flares. Also took a couple of pictures of the yellow water lily. Now I see that the lily is finished. It sure doesn't last very long. The color on my lily was terrible, but I kept this one for the tiny flares on the right. The big flare is from the truck cab. Decreased brightness and increased contrast. I could not get any diamond shaped flares from shooting at a few degrees from directly into the sun. Hmmmm, my old Canon Powershot A50 did gorgeous colored diamond flares. I might have to revive that camera for the RAW, the Flares, and the sharper better color. Todays shots have a lot of noise too.

Playing with a CS filter

This one, I think, is the best of the ones I shot today. Still needs more work, and I do need to get the adaptor for the 58mm and the 52mm. I should look at the lens hood, of course, also. As well as the wide and telephoto, although, they may not be worth the expense. If I get the 30D I should just use all my filters and lens with it, and get a good telephoto with extenders, if need be. Hmmmmmm pleasant plans!


This was about an hour later (5:20). No filter and no photoshopping. I had the 'my colors' set to the most colorful setting which is a bit like shooting with Velvia on slide film.

I was playing with a CS filter on my Canon S3 IS. I don't have the adapter to attach filters yet, so I taped the filter on the lens. I might have got it backwards for all I know. This is one of the first shots, shooting into the sun.
